McLain's need our help
My wife's sister lives north of New Orleans in Covington Louisiana. Sunday morning at 6am her sister Susanne called her up and told her it was time to get her skinny butt in the car and head for high ground in Alabama (that's where Susanne is from). She grabbed her two kids, a few things, and loaded up the Honda and arrived in Alabama 8 hours later. Less than 12 hours later, Katrina ripped through Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama and left hundreds dead. A few days later reality set in...New Orleans wasn't going to be the same for years and Covington didn't look like it was going to be the same for months. Mireille got ahold of her boss less than a week later and that's when we heard we were needed to help. Mireille's office was relocating their call center to Chicago, Illinois, about 80 miles from where we live. She asked us to setup her two kids with ours and get them into school. Monday our children welcomed Alyssa and Dalton to the house. Mireille was exhausted but within hours we had to send her off to Chicago so she could start work at 7am the next morning. Alyssa and Dalton are both big LSU fans and Dalton is a big Packer fan!
Angel mentioned to a few friends today that we were hosting a few Louisianans. Angela Beadle was the first to send out an email to friends asking for help. Since then, we've gotten numerous calls from people asking how they could help. Angela stopped by with Build a Bear's! Dalton's was a Packer bear and Alyssa's was some pink girly thing with sunglasses. They loved it!!
The kids are doing great. They made it to school for a few hours today and will be starting full time tomorrow. I'll post a few pics soon. For those of you looking to donate, send an email to angel@wi.rr.com.
